Comparing Apples to Chocolate — A baby carrier show down

*Note: this post contains an affiliate link*

There is one very common question I get all of the time when people see me babywearing. “How does ____ carrier compare to ____ carrier.” While my default answer tends to be something close to “how do apples compare to chocolate?” — I do actually understand that people want to attempt to figure out which will work best for them and their baby by means of a carrier lineup.  Since most people don’t own close to every major carrier on the market, I’ll be happy to give you an honest breakdown of how these 4 particular carriers stack up and how they work for us. My point of view is somewhat unique, as I have to accommodate a below average (okay… he’s below below average..) size baby who is obviously not a newborn. I also have to accommodate my toddler.

Carrier Comparison FinalThe 4 soft structured carriers (SSC’s) I get asked about most often are the LÍLLÉbaby Complete, Ergo 360, Beco Gemini and the Beco Soleil. 3 of the 4 will allow for ergonomic outward facing, which is a very popular feature right now.

Lillebaby CompleteWe’ll start with the Lillebaby Complete: The name is very fitting for this carrier. I truly feel like it is a *complete* package. Boasting a weight limit of 7-45 pounds, this carrier will last a very long time, especially when you have smaller sized kids. A panel that narrows accommodates most newborns to be legs out from the beginning without ever needing an insert. You can also do a fetal carry with a wide seat and a rolled blanket if you or baby are uncomfortable in a legs out position. The narrow seat also accommodates outward facing carries up to the 45 pound weight limit, though I don’t know that I would recommend carrying a 45 pound child in an outward facing carry. Along with the nice weight limit comes a feature to help you bare that load comfortably. A feature I have yet to see on  another carrier. The lumbar support. This pad sits nicely in the small of your back and helps to displace the weight that the carrier belt puts on your spine. (It also makes an amazing muffintop reducer when used with back carries! The #lillegirdle, if you will..) The Lillebaby Complete has 6 carry positions – A wide base fetal carry, narrow base outward facing carry, a narrow base inward facing carry, a wide base inward facing carry, a back carry, and a hip carry. (The Lillebaby also allows you to cross the straps in any front or back carry) It also comes in 4 fabric options and several colors for versatility. The Complete Original (a soft brushed cotton canvas), the Complete Organic (a buttery smooth organic cotton), The Airflow (a soft, layered mesh panel for optimal ventilation and breathability.. This carrier has a standard canvas belt and straps), and then the Complete All Seasons (Essentially the ideal combination of the Complete Original and Complete Airflow. Cotton canvas with a zip down center panel revealing the airflow mesh underneath for ventilation) For my small baby, the narrow seat option on this carrier is a sanity saver. At a year old but the size of a 4 month old, he has no interest in being stuck in an insert or on a rolled blanket. (Also, let’s be real, no parent wants to have to stick their kid in an oven mitt of an insert then strap that little heater to their chest!) He’s also a very curious little toddler who loves to see the world around him, so outward facing is a huge hit! The adjustable head/neck support is cushioned and very comfortable and attach with elastic to provide maneuverability. For my older son, this head support allows the panel of the carrier to become taller supporting more of his back. This carrier also has a removable hood and two-way adjustability on the arm straps.

Beco SoleilNext we’ll discuss the Beco Soleil. A well made cotton canvas structure with a nice wide panel with a high back. This carrier is very nice for bigger babies. The Soleil has a weight limit of 7-45 pounds and offers a PFA (perfect fit adjuster) strap adjustment on the shoulder straps. This carrier has a nice cushioned neck support and cushioned leg openings for a comfortable ride. The Soleil provides 3 carry positions – front, back and hip – as well as the ability to cross the straps on back. As my baby got older but not bigger, this carrier is not as ideal for us, as it does require an insert for babies that don’t fit in the wide seat yet.. And at over a year old, he does NOT want to be in an insert, but is still much too small for the wide panel. It is very comfortable for our toddler, however and the PFA’s make adjusting the panel between kids of varying sizes quite convenient. The lap belt is very comfortable for front carries, but I find it a little narrow for back carrying, especially because we mostly use this carrier for our 27 pound toddler. The lap belt does adjust from both directions which is nice for the multi-tasking mama who only has one hand available! The only feature I wish the buckles for the belt had is a safety elastic enclosure to secure to buckle clip through. The Beco Soleil also has a removable hood and comes in a wide variety of colorful prints to choose from, but only one fabric option. It’s very clean looking and easy to use.

Ergo 360Now on to the Ergo 360. Truth be told, I was very hopeful to have success with this carrier. My very first carrier was an Ergo and I loved it’s low maintenance wearability. With my small baby/insert issue, I was thrilled to hear Ergo had made a narrow based carrier with the ability to outward face, as well. With a weight limit of 7-33 pounds, I anticipated a carrier capable of nicely accommodating a smaller child — but still able to accommodate my toddler. I quickly realized that my baby was still not big enough and would still require the infant insert in the 360 to get a good fit for his legs. (A narrow base carrier that still requires an insert?!) Oddly enough, Even though his legs didn’t fit quite right, I found the structured seat aspect a little snug on his bum – pretty sure if he gained 5 pounds, his little booty would be suction-cupped into it. (Though, I guess he would be secure!) Our toddler is well within the weight limits of this carrier, but I am unable to get a proper seat for him in it. It may be partially because the seat often collapsed back somewhere between wide and narrow while wearing it, and the fact that the structured seat just wasn’t quite a good fit for his bum. The Ergo 360 has 4 carry positions (inward facing front carry, outward facing front carry, hip carry, and back carry). The fabric is a very nice quality, true to Ergo’s traditional carrier material. Quite sturdy, work-horse material! It comes in limited colors, but they are nice color options. The adjustable neck support was nice and padded, attaching to the structure with buttons.. and the straps were quite cushioned. It also has a stowable hood, which stows really well. The waist belt was definitely lacking, though. You secure it with Velcro first, which I had a hard time attaching tight enough. I even asked my husband to help and we, together, still couldn’t get it to give a good, sturdy feel to the belt. Then, once the velcro is attached, you hook a thin webbing buckle strap around it. The webbing is clearly there for extra security, but seemed like an after thought. The velcro was incredibly loud to remove and startled my baby. Thankfully he wasn’t sleeping. The waist panel is over all very flexible and floppy and not structured.. it bent easily while wearing. Though, this may be due to the fact that with the velcro, I was unable to get it as tight and fitted as I need to create a good stable carry.

Beco GeminiFinally, the Beco Gemini joins the party! A close sibling to its Soleil counterpart, the Gemini gives the fun prints and comfortable fabrics of Beco a more versatile structure. This carrier has a weight limit of 7-35 pounds and does not require an infant insert. An adjustable width base allows for smaller babies to fit comfortably before the widest seat fits, as well as allowing for ergonomic outward facing carries. The Gemini has 4 carry positions, inward facing, outward facing, hip and back carries. It also allows you to cross the straps on your back and has the dual side waist belt adjusters, just like those on the Soleil. The bulk of the shoulder strap is padded and very comfortable, but the part closest to the panel had no padding at all and feels, well, odd. The panel is a soft cotton canvas and very plush/padded. Moreso than any of the other carriers. I felt like baby was sitting inside a plush pillow.. So nice! (It definitely restricted ventilation, though. Baby gets quite sweaty in this one) This carrier is very comfortable to use for front carriers, but was awkward feeling when I attempted a back carry with my toddler. The waist belt not only accentuated my muffin top, but split me in half and gave me two! (Less is more.. especially when we’re talking about muffin tops! Haha) Speaking of the belt — The 3-point “safety” buckle makes the carrier quite interesting to get off of yourself when front carrying. Also, take caution. I didn’t press the safety release hard enough and the side prongs snapped back and pinched/cut my finger. (While this was probably a user error issue, I’m super paranoid – maybe even scared – of the buckle now.. hahaha. The Soleil has the same buckle enclosure.) The back panel on the Gemini is a bit narrow for a toddler, it does support his legs, but not as well. It is very accommodating of small babies, though. In both the wide and the narrow positions. It’s narrower panel width allows my small baby to fit the wide seat well, long before the wider panel’d carriers. The neck support was substantial and very cushioned. Attaching to the carrier with a buckle clasp. Unfortunately, however, the streamlined simplicity of this carrier means there is no hood. With no hood and the thick fabric, this is definitely not a good hot weather carrier.

So there you have it. A nice break down on these 4 carriers. We use the LÍLLÉbaby most often because of its versatility to be used well for both of our wearable kids. We also keep both Beco’s in rotation – one for each child as each accommodates one of them  well – but neither works for both kids. The Ergo 360 is not in rotation. It is simply not practical for us to use for either of our kids.

My biggest suggestion to you is, if you are able, find a local retailer and go try on multiple carriers. See how they fit your kids and your body. Baby carriers really are like jeans.. Some fit well, others won’t work for you, and one is bound to be your perfect match. Also, just like jeans — sometimes you need (okay.. want is a better word..) more than one.

Carriers on the Go

As I’ve mentioned before, we are avid baby and toddler wearers. Especially with the PhiePhieMonster’s muscle fatigue, we do a lot of wearing. Our carriers tend to come around with us most places we go. I was recently asked how I carry them around, while still juggling all of my kids. When I explained that I roll them into a neatly contained ball and then throw them in my diaper bag, or just set them in the seat of the car.. they were surprised. So, I have made a nice little tutorial with photos showing how I do it.

The carriers I use the most are my Líllébaby Soft Structured Carriers (SSC), so that is what I have used to demonstrate this process. It also works with all of my other SSC’s, the only difference being that the Líllébaby carriers have a lumbar support that I leave on the waist belt, with other carriers, you will not have this piece. I hope this helps!

Rolling Carrier

Littles wearing littles..

There is one question that constantly swirls when people learn of my love for LÍLLÉbaby carriers. “How does it fit on petite people?”

While I can speak for the petite height aspect (I am 5’4.. and it fits me really well!), I am definitely not in the exceptionally thin realm.. So I decided to test how small the carrier could go. What better way to test this than on a 49″, 56lb, 9-year-old boy?!

That’s right. I adjusted my LÍLLÉbaby All Seasons carrier and attempted to get a good fit on our 9 year old to see if he could wear our 11 month old, 24″, 12.5lb baby. It ended in adorable success! I will show you all just how small this carrier can go!

IMG_3069IMG_3070First: I tightened the waistband as far as it would go, but left a small amount of laxity just in case I needed to adjust a little once it was on him. (I then rolled the rest of the webbed belt up. I can’t stand when its all flopping around!)

IMG_3071

Next: I tightened the double adjuster on the straps all the way (note the overlap of the strap padding) and then rolled the extra webbing up as well for a cleaned up look.

IMG_3074

Once that was done, I took the carrier to him and strapped it around his waist. Notice the tight fit? I did have to let the belt out a tiny bit, but not much. Note the rolled webbing. (Also: please take noticed that I did not use the lumbar support for him.. the thicker section of the waist panel covered enough of his back that it added the support itself.)

IMG_3076

Once I had the waist fitted nicely to him, I set the baby in the seat and attached the straps across his back one at a time. I did not need to loosen them any.

IMG_3080

This is what the buckled straps look like. The rolled extra webbing isn’t overly obvious and he said he couldn’t even feel it.

IMG_3081

Lots of snuggles (and brotherly nose picking..) resulted from this. It is possible and if my overly dramatic 9 year old says its comfortable.. I’m going to guess it must be fairly comfortable!

So.. there you have it! Littles wearing littles!! Let me know if you have questions. Myself, or any of my LILLEwearing friends, can attempt to answer them and troubleshoot fitting issues!

The Diaper Bag Kids Read

Reading is something that is, and always has been, very important to me. A quiet escape from the chaos of life. Some of my fondest memories involve books. Spending Spring Break at my grandparents house, sitting on my grandma’s bed reading old books she kept in the top of her closet.. The Mouse and the Motorcycle, Freckle Juice.. so many wonderful books. So many pages turned through my fingers. I loved it. I craved it. I always hoped my children would have a love for books as well.

We always read to our kids. Especially my husband. Bedtime routine is not complete without a book (or 3..) to wind down the evening. As they are growing and learning, the story time routine is changing a bit. They want to be the ones reading now. As sad as I am to watch the tide change, I am rejoicing. Statistically, boys are less likely to have a love for reading. They lose interest in reading far more rapidly than girls do. My goal was, and always has been, to not let my boys become part of that statistic. There is a world of imagination and creativity found in books. This is incredibly important for boys and so far, my boys are embracing it.

I’ve decided to give my boys love for books a space here in the blog. A new (and first for The Diaper Bag Confessions!) vlog segment called “The Diaper Bag Kids Read” where they will read some of their favorite books. Lets face it, its educational, fun.. and adorable. The first book in this new series is B.J. Novak’s children’s book.. “The Book With No Pictures” – all of my children love it. We hope you and your children enjoy it as well! (Please ignore the fact that its vertical video.. by the time I realized it, it was too late and lets face it, you cannot re-create moments with children..)

Feel free to leave us some new book suggests that your children love. We’re always looking for new books to add to our library!

Planning for Disneyland.. again.

Gates 1Gates 3We typically do Disneyland every 18 months, give or take. So far, it has been a fun gap between trips. Our children have a vastly different experience each time we go. They are a little older, a little braver.. a little taller. (this is important hahaha)  Our most recent trip was last August/early September. On that trip, our kids were 8, 5, 3 and 4 months. Several people asked how we managed it with a small baby. (It wasn’t hard.. Rider Switch Passes are wonderful things!!) Often commenting things like “I had no idea there was much a baby could do there..”Castle 2Gates 2

That trip was so much fun! Each child managed to have a different experience from one another.. but all enjoyed it beyond what I had imagined. So much so, we are planning another trip.. much sooner than our typical 18 month gap. With the upcoming Disneyland 60th anniversary coming up and our recent #Disneyside parties we’ve hosted.. we have the Disney vacation bug and I’m excited to see how different it is going with less of a gap between trips.

Splash Mountain 2It will have been about 9 months between trips when we go.. and I already know that it will be a bit different.. we will have a toddler instead of an infant, a preschooler instead of a toddler, and two very different children, who have both gained about an inch or more in that 9 month time frame. (Our 6 year old is hoping that this means he will be tall enough for the majority of the rides now. He was barely skating under the 42″ mark last time we went, and depending on his shoe choice.. sometimes couldn’t ride some that he really wanted to.)

Random ParkOur biggest debate this time around is how to handle our 3 year old’s compromised ability. I hesitate to call it a disability.. but it is a struggle. Disneyland, which he thoroughly enjoys it, send his Sensory Processing Disorder into a mad spiral. The noise. The colors. The crowds. The characters. Add to that his muscle fatigue… and it can be a lot to handle for a little guy. His first time going, he was non-mobile so it wasn’t much of an issue. He was carried around anyway. This last visit, however, he was mobile and we had to think about how to handle his SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) and his muscle fatigue. Cars Land 2When we arrived, we spoke to the wonderful people at Disneyland’s City Hall and they suggested a “stroller as a wheel chair” pass for him.For the most part, it worked wonderfully. Occasionally the cast members either wouldn’t notice the pass or wouldn’t think to look and jump quickly to the “Strollers aren’t allowed here” remark before we could point it out. But when it worked, he was much happier. His stroller is his “happy bubble” – it keeps his legs rested and he can pull the sunshade down when he is feeling overstimulated. Parade 9We did go in a large group, though, and there is a maximum number of people that can enter a ride with the “Stroller as a wheelchair” pass — so often part of our group would have to wait in a LONG line while the other part of our group got on rather quickly with the pass. It got to be somewhat chaotic. So, we are trying to decide if it’s worth using for him once again. As avid baby/toddler wearers, we are contemplating just carrying him around in our Lillebaby when he needs it.. which might just work out a little better. Then our group can stay together and he can rest his legs in that secure environment he needs.

Carousel 2Parade 7Characters 1Characters 3characters 2

Parade 6We really want to strive to do the park in a way we haven’t yet. We have yet to do a character meal. (Which one do we choose?) We haven’t done much pin trading or hidden mickey spotting. (We tended to just run from ride to ride..) The candy shop, bakery and most of the stores got brushed over. (Again.. the rides!) All of this considered.. our goal is to do Disney differently this go round. That’s part of the fun of Disney, there are so many things to do and see, you can go hundreds of times and have a different experience each and every visit.

So now my question for you lovely people, in your opinion what should we strive to do? What is the most memorable part of Disneyland for you? Do you have any Disney traditions for your trips? Show me your #Disneyside and help us plan our next trip!! Parade 3

I do not want to find another doctor..

Let’s rewind 10 years. I hated going to the doctor. In fact, the only time I did go to the doctor after I turned 18 was when I fell and bit through my bottom lip. (I’m graceful, what can I say?) Then I got pregnant with my first baby. Going to the doctor wasn’t optional.. prenatal care is important. I wasn’t ecstatic about it, but I did it. To say it didn’t go well is an understatement. My group of providers knew nothing about me, other than what was in my chart. I felt my concerns were easily brushed off.. At 10 days overdue, they finally agreed to induce me after a stress test showed my baby wasn’t quite doing as well as he should be. After an eventful induction, meconium in the fluid, a delivery that nearly ended in a c-section and a call to the Emergency Resuscitation Team.. my baby was eventually born healthy. My provider didn’t hang around. Nor did she check on me later. In fact, I can’t say I’ve ever seen her since.

That experience did nothing to improve my hesitance to seek medical care for myself. However, I was a mom now.. I had to take care of myself. If I was going to do that properly, I knew I needed to find a doctor that I trusted to help me. I managed to find a good PCP that I was comfortable with and when we decided to expand our family, she informed me that because of some medical issues.. I would need to seek out an OB-GYN. I thought back to the prenatal experience I had with my oldest son and vowed never to do that again. So I researched. A lot of research. The first clinic I called, the receptionist was incredibly rude. Nope. That one was not going to work for me. (I’m sorry, but the entire staff needs to be good.. the doctor is not the only person we have to interact with!) I continued looking. I called several places and read many profiles.. then finally I came across the profile of a doctor that seemed perfect. I called her office and the receptionist was pleasant and helpful. I made an appointment.

Walking into the clinic I was pleasantly surprised. I already had experience with the receptionist. She previously worked at our son’s pediatricians office! Pleasant and friendly. Already a plus. Was shown back to a room by the medical assistant, also very happy and kind. Another plus. I was at ease for the first time ever walking into a doctors office. Strange, considering I was about to be given a pap smear by a doctor I’d never met. She came in the room and I had no regrets. She was what I was looking for. She made an effort, she listened.. she cared.

She would be my OB-GYN for 8.5 years. Through my struggle to get pregnant with our second son to surprise babies number 3 and 4. When pregnancy number 4 got stressful, thanks to that awful subchorionic hematoma, I knew that I could trust what she told me. I knew that she had my best interest in mind with everything she told me. She was honest. She was genuine. Best of all? She was fun. There was never a day she didn’t have me laughing at a visit.

DSC_0038DSC_0144IMG_5932-001

(I do not have images like this from baby #1..)

Then the day came that she told me she would likely be leaving her practice. She told me while I was in labor with baby number 4, so obviously I cried. Then it soaked in. No.. no no no. This was not okay. I finally had a doctor I liked. One I trusted. One that was sitting with me, for hours, waiting for my baby to turn to a deliverable position while making sure my BP stayed stable. She came back to visit the day after I had him. She sat in my room for over an hour talking to me about what was going on and why. I cried more. Obviously the logical thing for a woman to do the day after giving birth. At my 6 week postpartum appointment I asked if she knew what was going on. She told me there was a 96% chance she’d be leaving.. “Just call and ask (the receptionist) where I went. She’ll tell you.”

Then came the day.. 6 months later.. I needed to make an appointment. A stranger answered. Not the sweet, friendly receptionist I had become accustomed to. Not the voice I had counted on hearing for the last 8+ years when I would call – and then this strange voice hit me with the wrecking ball. “She is no longer with our practice.. but we have another excellent female doctor joining us!” I managed to get out a polite “No, it’s not urgent.. I’m a long time patient and would rather see if she returns to practice..” when what I wanted to say was “WHAT?!? No! I do not want some other female doctor. Do you even know what it took to find this one??”

It’s been 4 months.. I probably should find a new provider, but so far I am refusing. I know, a bit melodramatic, right? I just can’t imagine I will find another physician quite like her. While I don’t know if we will have any more kids regardless of whether she returns or not… I most definitely do not think I would trust anyone else to deliver another of my babies.  So for now, I have resolved to just visiting my PCP for my current issues while I hold out hope.. some sort of hope.. that she will return.

I cannot be the only person who is this particular about their doctor.. right? Any of you have this sort of physician anxiety? It really takes the right one.. or the quality of care lacks. Never a good thing.

One positive, though… the fabulous receptionist? She isn’t permanently missing. In fact, she was transferred to my PCP’s office soI still get that small, familiar dose of happy any time I walk into that office!

A Piston Cup worthy Disney “Cars” party

I was honored, once again, to have been selected to host a #disneyside @Home party. This time around, we were chosen to host a “Cars” themed party, much to my children’s delight. What more does a house full of boys love than cars?

I decided to take the party a little healthier this time. Typically when we think about kid parties, they are usually full of candy and cupcakes and kids leave on an epic sugar high. While I did have a sweet treat (chocolate dipped Marshmallows!) the rest of the food was aimed towards balance. Thanks to Stonyfield Farm, the most popular snack was YoKids Organic Yogurt Squeezers. We also had berry muffins instead of cupcakes. Organic Fruit Leather instead of fruit snacks. And a simple chicken salad with pita chips —  and by simple, I truly mean simple. Nothing more than rotisserie chicken, apples, grapes, and organic plain yogurt! While the kids enjoyed it, the adults really liked it.

DSC_0585 - CopyDSC_0579 - CopyDSC_0584 - Copy
Besides the food, the kids had a blast playing games. In our #disneyside box, we were sent a “Pin the smile on Mickey” game. It was so much fun for the kids. It was definitely most fun for the slightly older kids, but all of the children enjoyed the game very much. Also – what is better entertainment for parents than blindfolded children wandering around the room attempting to stick a smile on random pieces of furniture (or sometimes other children..)?collage

Another popular game that we were sent was #disneyside Bingo. Even the young kids were really good at finding the matches that were called. They also enjoyed eating the popcorn that they used to mark their spaces once the game was done.

DSC_0668DSC_0648DSC_0659

I got creative for one last game. What else does one do with a room full of young kids? Help them burn energy while playing an easy to understand game! So, going with the “Cars” theme, we played “Lightening Says.” This also proved quite entertaining.”Lightning says… jump up and down!”

DSC_0690DSC_0682

Pit Stop! It wouldn’t be a social media party if it didn’t include a place to take themed selfies. Starting kids off young, wouldn’t you know? Haha. We had two wall posters where they could pose with the “Cars” stars and hold the #disneyside chalk board. They enjoyed it more than I thought they would. The Radiator Springs characters were the favorite, for sure. The other poster had all of the “Cars 2” characters in it and it was not quite as popular as Lightning and Mater. Even the baby had to show his #disneyside!

DSC_0576 - CopyDSC_0571 - Copy

Outside of organized games, the kids had fun playing with the Disney Cars we had out and the simple road way I created with Washi Tape on our kids’ table. Amazing how fun something so simple can be! (Naturally, they had to use it for Baymax to save the world, with a little help from The Hulk.) This was incredibly popular with the younger, preschool aged crowd. A place to play alongside one another.. and without all of the grown ups bothering them with instructions.

DSC_0591 - CopyDSC_0753

We ended our fun with some amazing parting gifts. Of course, a lot of #disneyside fun was included thanks to Disney and the #disneyside sponsors. We are all excited to start planning our next Disney Parks Vacation. My kids even filled out their luggage tags. The bags were made even better thanks to my friends at Mattel for helping brings some car fun along and Stonyfield for providing even more yogurt!

Note: This party was sponsored by Disney and the wonderful people at MomSelect, They kindly sent a party kit for this #disneyside @Home party. I was also provided product by Mattel and Stonyfield Farm. All opinions expressed are my own and I was not otherwise compensated for this post.

My YoBaby

When my oldest was a year and a half old, he outgrew the first of his many allergies, dairy. He was a petite kid, frequently on antibiotics for recurrent ear infections, so our pediatrician recommended his first dairy based food be a whole milk based yogurt. We found Stonyfield Farm’s YoBaby yogurt. Not only was it a whole milk yogurt, but it was organic. Win! He loved it and so did we.

Fast forward 8 years and 3 more kids, and we are still a YoBaby family. The fact that it is made with whole milk is even more important for our youngest. He is a bit more than petite — he’s incredibly small. He needs good, healthy sources of calories and that is exactly what YoBaby gives him.

StonyfieldYoBaby

He is now almost 11 months old and a YoBaby through and through. In fact, more often than not, I can’t get the spoon in his mouth nearly fast enough. (I keep trying to tell him that the container doesn’t taste good. That doesn’t seem to stop him..) When he sees the container, especially the apple flavor, he starts flapping his arms and panting. If he could talk, I’m pretty sure he’d be saying “hurry up, hurry up, hurry up!!”

There is one small caveat to his yogurt filled excitement… The mess. The ooey, gooey, milky mess. It’s on the table, the high chair, the floor.. In his hair, and some days in mine. He does try to help clean it up by licking any reachable, yogurt covered surface. But in the end, we all need a good cleaning. Thinking about it now, I’m pretty sure it’s less about helping clean and more about not wanting to waste any of it.. My skin is well accustomed to the yogurt facial, as is his. I don’t fret, though. There are far worse things than organic yogurt that could end up all over my house. I am raising boys, after all.

I love that Stonyfield Farm’s YoBaby yogurt is such a staple in my kids’ first foods. Helping them grow, keeping them healthy and building their palettes.

Do you have a YoBaby or plan on having a YoBaby? Would you like to win a Stonyfield YoBaby gift set like ours, including a hat, bib and 4 YoBaby coupons -courtesy of Stonyfield Farm? Mickey Mouse Club House #DisneyKids Preschool Party

**Note: This post is sponsored by Disney and Mom Select. All opinions expressed are my own.**

I was honored to have been selected to host a #DisneySide #DisneyKids preschool playdate last weekend. If you are unfamiliar with the #DisneySide campaign, it’s about showing your Disney side. The wonderful pixie dusted magic that Disney brings out in you. This time around, it was focused on the young crowd. The Disney Junior preschool kids. My children, and their friends, are quite the Disney Kids, so I knew that this would be a great opportunity for them to have fun. We just went to Disneyland in September.. but they are already aching to return. This playdate helped relieve a little bit of that.

Our wonderful friends at Disney and their partners sent us a kit filled to the brim with party planning supplies and fun extras. My children especially loved the Disney themed fruit snacks. (I’m one of those mean parents that doesn’t let them have that sort of treat on a regular basis..) Our box was Mickey Mouse Club House themed.. perfect for my 3 year old. A huge Mickey Mouse fan (That is the one and only character he broke out of his sensory shell for at Disneyland!)

I got the house prepped for our friends to join us and once everyone arrived there was much fun to be had. We, naturally, had to play the DJ Shuffle CD. Watching the kids dance and sing along to that was hilarious. So much energy in tiny little bodies.  The kids enjoyed the Disney Side Bingo.. and especially loved the fact that nearly all of them BINGO’d at the same time.

The Chore Charts were a huge hit.. though, mostly for the parents who loved the idea.

Naturally, the social media mom in me had to set up a Selfie Station.. complete with Holiday Mickey and Minnie cut out to pose with. The kids definitely enjoyed that. I’m not sure that many of them knew what a “selfie” was… but they do now! I’m sure the parents are thrilled.

After snacks and some playing with each other.. we burned some sugar filled energy playing Disney Junior Super Stretchy. Now that was fun and entertaining!

We love having friends over – and it was even better being able to show our friends how amazing Disney is, even for the youngest crowd. (We even had 3 babies in attendance who were equally as thrilled to show their Disney Side..) I am proud to be raising Disney Kids. You should all go look at the #DisneySide and #DisneyKids hashtags on your social media channels to see how others are showing their Disney Side and to get fun ideas for Disney Themed parties!

Thank you, Disney, for this dose of preschool fun!
